Public Information Officer
Serve as the “voice” of the City of Asheville! Create and administer the City’s program for internal and external communications. Develop communications strategies and implement plans to improve awareness of the City of Asheville while interacting with a variety of public officials, community leaders, media representatives and the general public. Apply your ability to innovate and knowledge of media relations to manage a full range
of communications tools and public relations methods. Keep the community educated and informed of our programs, services, activities, features, and accomplishments by coordinating events and public participation processes!
Apply your Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Public Relations, or Marketing and your 3+ years of progressively responsible experience in the communications arena to make effective verbal and written presentations to our Council, civic groups, citizens and the media. Utilize your interviewing/fact gathering skills and communications skills to work with reporters and City personnel, extract pertinent information, and prepare
graphics, reports, advertisements, news releases, and a variety of marketing materials. Oversee the marketing, design and content of the city's internal and external Web sites while supervising the city's neighborhood services program.
